Join Allison Ulan and Robin Golt for this weekend of Yoga Philosophy and Yoga techniques in asana to support health and whole being development. Weekend 6 will be devoted to in-depth study of the yoga philosophy traditions and their practices.
In this module, Robin Golt will guide you through the diverse threads of awareness developed in the key yoga philosophical systems of Samkhya, classical Yoga of Patanjali and Tantric tradition.
Weekend 6 dates are October 18th, 19th and 20th, 2019.
Schedule: Friday 6 – 9 pm, Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm.
The Visions of Yoga
A weekend of philosophy, history, asana, pranayama and meditation for yoga teachers (taught in the context of Allison Ulan’s A Balanced Approach Yearlong Teacher Training Program) Yoga teachers and teachers-in training will benefit enormously from this joyful dive into some of the most fascinating philosophical perspectives of the yoga traditions. We have a rich and varied program planned for this weekend of study and practice. All 5 of the weekend sessions include periods of asana, discussion, reflection, and Q&A.
Friday evening, 6-8:30 with Allison Asana practice (1.5 hours) designed specifically to open the body and prepare the mind for pranayama and meditation (30 min). Allison will provide an in-depth explanation of how to prepare for and teach these subtler practices (30 minutes).
Saturday 9 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm with Robin
Morning session: Exhilarating overview of yoga history and philosophy tracing the evolution of the big question What is yoga?
Asana practice to keep the mind/body awake and to integrate key themes of the discussion. Standing poses. Meditation.
Afternoon session: The quiet forest teachings of the Upanisads and the vision of Advaita Vedanta
Asana focus: Hip openers and forward bends and Meditation.
Sunday 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4 pm with Robin
Morning session: Practice and Dispassion: The Classical Yoga of Patanjali
Asana focus: Backbends and Meditation.
Sunday 1-4: The universe in this body – Non-dual Shaiva Tantra
Asana focus: Twists and Meditation
